RIP CORRINE DAY

Corinne Day, the fashion photographer made famous by her candid, confessional style died on Friday following a battle with brain cancer. Made famous for often working with unconventional models and with a confrontational or documentary style, Day questioned gender stereotypes in the mainstream media and magazines that dominated the glamorous models of the late 80’s. She contributed work with a documentary feel and more confrontational approach to magazines such as Dazed and Confused, British, Italian and Japanese Vogue, Vogue Homme, The Face and Ray Gun. Vogue editor Alexandra Shuman paid tribute to Day, saying: “Corinne was a photograper of huge talent and integrity. Her work for British Vogue was entirely original and will always be remembered. She could capture raw beauty like few others.” Day has had work exhibited around the world including the National Portrait Gallery, the V&A, The Tate Modern and at The Andy Warhol exhibition at the Whitney Museum.
